It is the beauty (jamāl) in conceivable realities that can only be comprehended by the light of the intellect appropriate to itself. This reverts to the first meaning, which is that the intellect desires to follow this subtle beauty (jamāl) so that, through it, it may return to its origin.
Manifest beauty (jalī jamāl), on the other hand, pertains to bodies without implying indwelling (ḥulūl). It is an illumination (ishrāq) and a radiance. The senses perceive this. The senses can only comprehend something corporeal.
