It exists. This refers to someone engaging in ghība (backbiting) about a person without specifying any particular individual. Likewise, in the context of spiritual training, it is possible to speak of the backbiting of murīds (aspirants, disciples) regarding their shaykhs. If there is something beneficial for the murīd in this backbiting, although it is still considered ghība, it is regarded as praiseworthy. In ghība, not specifying is preferable to specifying.
