Mustaġīs (one who seeks help) is to request the appearance of aid from the one from whom help is sought. There is no difference whether this is done using the terms istiġātha (seeking urgent aid), tawassul (seeking intercession), tashaffuʿ (seeking mediation), tawajjuh (turning towards), or tajawwuh (seeking favor); the last two derive from the roots jāh and wijāha, meaning value and exalted station.
