nūr-i baṣar al-ʿayn (the light of the eye's vision)

nūr-i baṣar al-ʿayn (the light of the eye's vision) is afflicted with certain deficiencies. For it sees others, but does not see itself, nor what is distant from itself, nor what is behind a veil. It perceives the outward (ẓāhir) of things, not their inward (bāṭin). It sees only some of what exists, not all. It perceives what is finite (mutanāhī), not what is infinite (lā mutanāhī).
