The angels—this level is also called the jabarūt (the world of power)—constitute the world of meanings (ʿālam al-maʿānī), in which, apart from these angels, there are no elements or natures. All other created beings are made from natures. The angels of each heaven are created from a nature after which they are named. These angels are the most noble of Allah's creatures, and all are muqarrab (those brought near to Allah). Allah created them from the light of His oneness (tawhid). However, each successive level, in terms of the Manifestation of the One (Tajallī al-Wāḥid), is a name from among Allah's names, a quality from among His qualities. (Marātib, 23)
