By saʿādat-i uḫreviyye (the ultimate happiness of the hereafter), we mean an afterlife happiness that consists of baqāʾ (subsistence in God) without fanāʾ (annihilation), pleasure without suffering, joy without sorrow, wealth without poverty, perfect kamāl (perfection) without deficiency, honor without humiliation—in short, everything that can be sought, desired, or wished for by the seeker and the sought. This is the everlastingness of the eternals, whose moments and time will never diminish. (Mizān, 3)
Saʿādat-i uḫreviyye is baqāʾ without fanāʾ, joy without sorrow, knowledge without ignorance, wealth without poverty. True happiness can only be attained with Allah; it is perfected only by the second type, which is the virtues of the nafs (the lower self). (Mizān, 84)
