Do not enter into friendship with Allah without conforming to His commands; and do not befriend people without mutual naṣīḥa (sincere counsel) with the ṣāḥib-i ṭilṣim-i fāḍil (the possessor of the noble talisman)! To befriend the nafs (the lower self), you must oppose it absolutely; if you wish to befriend Satan, then be his enemy! (Lumaʿ, 234)
