The group known as semirâ (semrâʾ) does not have a fixed number. They are a particular class among the people of hadith (ahl al-ḥadīth). Allah says, "Consult them in the matter" (Āl ʿImrān 3:159). This group does not have hadiths (sayings) together with spirits (arwāḥ). For their speech is with Allah. Their friend is among the divine names that are mufassal (detailed) and mudabbir (governing). In this maqām (spiritual station), they are not among the people of shahāda (witnessing), but rather among the people of the unseen (ghayb). (Futūḥāt, II, 24-25; Nabhānī, LI, 49)
