Shawāhid al-asmāʾ (witnesses of the Divine Names) refers to the way in which the worlds undergo different states through the manifestation of the Divine Names in states, attributes, and acts. For example, calling the Provider (Rāziq) the one who provides sustenance (merzūq, the one given sustenance), the Giver of Life (Muḥyī) the living (ḥayy, the one given life), and the Giver of Death (Mumīt) the dead (mayyit, the one caused to die), illustrates this.
