Shayʾat-i Ḥaqq and shayʾat-i khalq: In terms of being in need, there is nothing comparable to created beings. For only the Ḥaqq (the Real, i.e., God) exists; all else does not. The Ḥaqq cannot be described as needy. He is not like the khalq (the created beings). Just as He does not resemble the khalq in being needy, there is also none like the Ḥaqq in richness (self-sufficiency). For this reason, only the Ḥaqq exists; there is nothing else. The khalq cannot be described as possessing richness, nor can it be like the Ḥaqq. Nothing can be like the Ḥaqq. As stated previously, in essence, as substance, there is nothing but the single Essence (dhāt) in multiplicity, which is the khalq and the Ḥaqq. The Ḥaqq, in terms of essence, is the single Essence with many names and nisbas (relations). (Futūḥāt, III, 518)
