The ṣiddīq is a person who excels in ṣidq (truthfulness). Due to the illumination of his inner being and the close connection between them, he is near to the inner reality of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). For this reason, the ṣiddīq attains perfection (kamāl) in affirming, through knowledge, speech, and action, everything brought by him. Thus, in the Book of Allah, no spiritual station (maqām) is placed between ṣiddīqiyya (the state of being a ṣiddīq) and prophethood (nubuwwa). As stated in the verse: Whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger, they will be with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor: the prophets, the ṣiddīqs, the martyrs, and the righteous.
