Ṣighār al-nafs (training the nafs to accept what it does not deserve) is to accustom the nafs (the lower self) to things it does not merit. (Mizüân, 74)

Sırāṭ/sırāṭ al-mustaqīm: Mizān (balance, equilibrium) consists in the establishment of justice within yourself, while sırāṭ (the path) consists in your striving to purify your akhlāq (character) and attributes. (Letā'if, 134)

The sırāṭ al-mustaqīm is very well-known among people. It is the path of hudā (guidance) of the prophets. (Sofyavi, 168)

Sırāṭ consists of walking and distance. When creation (khalq) is manifest and the Real (Ḥaqq) is hidden, then the ruling belongs to the Real in the existence (wujūd) of creation, and creation is subject to the decree of the Real. When creation is hidden and the Real is manifest, then the ruling belongs to creation, and the Real is subject to what creation seeks. In this respect, what the servant asks from the Real is only what the Real grants to him. In the first case, the decree of the Real concerning the servant is only subject to what He commands the servant. (Sofyavi, 170)
