He has also given their names. These also exist in humans. (Futūḥāt, TI, 416)

My saying that angels descend is because they inspire various forms of obedience into our qalb (the heart) by Allah's command. My statement regarding angels is due to their uniting two things that manifest and arranging the two forms with all types of listening. My statement about the movements of the celestial spheres is because of the descents (tenazzulāt) at certain hours and the interrelations of supplications (dua) with each other at those times. My statement about commands is due to the abundance of these descents. The reason I say attributes is to clarify the reality of the Essence (dhāt). I did not say attribute (ṣifa), because they are among the types of knowledge. Speech and will, together with qudra (power), are directed toward the origination of the universe. (Latā'if, 37)

angel / malāʾika 653

Allah has appointed an angel with every celestial sphere. Their tasks are three ṣalāḥ (types of rectitude).
