A sirāj (lamp) from the light of the unseen (ghayb) was lit and extinguished. The lamps shone and then darkened. A moon that manifests among the moons; a star whose constellation is in the celestial sphere of secrets. The Real (al-Ḥaqq) called it 'umm' (mother) because He gathered within it all himmah (spiritual aspirations); 'haram' (sanctuary) due to the greatness of the blessings He bestowed upon it; and 'Makki' (of Mecca) because it is always in the station of nearness to Him.
