What is tācu’l-malik (malik: the crown of the sultan)? The answer is as follows: It means the sign, emblem, and the crowning of the sultan’s kitāb (book, writing). Existence is a written kitāb. Those who are among the muqarrabūn (those brought near to God) see it. One who is not among the muqarrabūn does not know this. The crowning of this kitāb occurs only through the one who gathers all ḥaqīqas (inner realities). He is the sign of its originator. In this ḥāl (spiritual state), at the beginning of the inspiration that comes suddenly, the insān-i kāmil (the perfect human) indicates his Lord by his very essence. He is the tācu’l-malik.
