Some have said that it is because of the verb elihe-ye'lehü, meaning 'to fall passionately in love,' that, in the face of ʿazama (divine majesty) and ʿizza (divine might), everything is passionately devoted to ʿubūdiyya (servitude to God)—that is, everything in the cosmos ardently desires to serve Him by submitting to Him. In that ḥāl (spiritual state), the cosmos, in terms of His identity, is He Himself (the cosmos is inseparable from the Real, cannot be conceived apart from Him, and in this respect is not distinct from Him). The cosmos cannot refrain from submitting to this passionate devotion. For passionate devotion to servitude to the Exalted Real is inherent to all things.
