Ṭālib-i khayr (one who seeks good) cannot dispense with five further qualities, in addition to matters such as knowing the acts (of worship), needing to know the rulings concerning those acts, performing these acts with ikhlas (sincerity), being upright as commanded, and fulfilling the obligatory acts at their prescribed times as ordered. These five qualities are: ṣidq (truthfulness), sawāb (correctness), shukr (gratitude), rajāʾ (hope), and khawf (fear). (Ādābı, 78)
