Ukāb is the pen, and it is also the First Intellect (ʿAql-i Awwal). (Istilāḥ, 537)
Ukāb (the constellation of the eagle) is, according to them, sometimes expressed as the First Intellect, and sometimes as the Universal Nature (Kullī Ṭabīʿa). They have named the rational soul (nafs-i nāṭiqa) as verkāʾ (dove or pigeon).
The First Intellect, like the ukāb, lifts the rational soul (nafs-i nāṭiqa) from the lower world to the summit of the higher world, the sacred expanse. Nature, on the other hand, takes it and brings it to the lower world. Most often (Kāshānī, 131; Jāmiʿ, 90)
