The sign of ülfet (intimate companionship) is the scarcity of opposition (to commands) and the abundance of good deeds. (Ādāb, 147)

Ülfet is the first of the stations of love. It has many causes. The first is mumāzajat (mingling), which requires uns (familiarity) and the stability of the Beloved's beauties (this stability refers to the constancy of the Beloved's influence upon the person). Its meaning is to prefer the Beloved over all desires and friendships. (Ravza, 348)
