The inclination of the hearts of the people of the inner dimension (bāṭin), and the murīd's (aspirant, disciple) adherence to the Noble Sunnah (Sunnat-i Seniyye) and avoidance of innovations (bidʿa), is to the extent that he entirely abandons his own existence. For, among the leaders of this path, the common principle (usūl-i mushtaraka) of all is to negate one's existence (wujūd), to exert much effort (gayrat), to be content with what is at hand, to fulfill covenants, and, during the witnessing (mushāhada) of the One and Only Worshipped Lord (Mawlā), not to bring to mind anything other than Him (mā siwā). I recommend that you fulfill all of these, to the best of your ability, to persist in silent dhikr (zikr-i khafī), and, in summary, to continue with the awrād (prescribed litanies) we have presented. For this is the most effective remedy for treating diseases of the qalb (the heart). The experts of unveiling (kashf) and the qalb also practice these. (Bughyat, 244)
