We have seven usul (principles): holding fast to the Book of Allah, following the Messenger of God (peace be upon him), eating what is halal (permissible), not harming others, avoiding sins, tawba (repentance), and fulfilling rights. (Luma', 289)
Our usul (principles) are seven: performing the obligatory acts (fard), avoiding what is haram (forbidden), severing ties with mā siwā (all that is other than God), inclining towards poverty, abandoning asking (from others), not storing what one possesses for another time, and always turning solely to Allah. (Luma', 289)
The usul (section of spiritual stations) is divided into ten chapters. These are: qasd (intention), azm (resolve), irāda (will), adab (proper conduct), yaqīn (certainty), uns (intimacy), dhikr (remembrance of God), faqr (poverty), ghinā (spiritual wealth), and the maqām al-murād (station of being sought). (Manāzil, 24)
The usul (principles) are: qasd, azm, irāda, adab, yaqīn, uns, dhikr, faqr, ghinā, murād. (Rihla, 206)
