Envār-i samāviyye (heavenly lights) are lights belonging to the heavens, and are the lights from which earthly (arḍī) lights borrow illumination. If there is a question of superiority between them in terms of borrowing from one another, then the light closest to the original source is more deserving of being called 'light.'
