Anwār (lights) are four. The qalb (the heart) looks in four directions: mulk (the dominion), malakūt (the spiritual realm), ʿizzat (majesty), and jabarūt (the realm of power). With the light of intellect, one contemplates the mulk; with the light of iman (faith), one contemplates the malakūt. The malakūt is the hereafter. With the light of yaqīn (certainty), one contemplates the ʿizzat, which is an attribute. With the light of maʿrifa (gnosis, experiential knowledge of God), one contemplates the jabarūt, which is the tawḥīd (the oneness of God) of Allah. The Almighty, the Compeller (al-Jabbār), is above the qalb and encompasses it. He unveils it and brings it under His dominion as He wills. (Küt, I, 245)
