Vatar refers to wishing or desiring, and signifies a praiseworthy benefit that lies outside of human attributes and nafsānī (nafs-related, pertaining to the lower self) desires. In this context, it is said: "So-and-so has settled into his vatar and attained his desires." (Lumaʿ, 445)
