Vitr (odd/unique), is one of the types of tawhid (the oneness of God). Know that, in the Arabic language, vitr means to seek retribution. In this ḥāl (spiritual state), it is described as vitr because the ahadiyya (absolute oneness) of the Real (al-Ḥaqq), by His existence, desires to take retribution from the ahadiyya for the manifestation of duality by the Wāḥid (the One). At that time, the numbers had not yet increased to infinity. When, through this manifestation, the ruling of ahadiyya ceases, the ahadiyya of the Real seeks to take retribution from the ahadiyya that possesses the characteristic of cessation.
