It alludes to the cycle of becoming, that is, beginning from Allah and returning to Him again. The comparison of the qalb (the heart) to the bezel of a ring also indicates that, due to being the locus of divine manifestations, the intended meaning in the human being is the qalb. In this ḥāl (spiritual state), the manifestations that occur in the qalb are like the engravings made on the bezel of the ring. Accordingly, just as what is meant by the ring is its bezel, it is thus understood that the intended meaning in the human being is the qalb. (Sofyavi, 210)
