These are the nafs (the lower selves) or imprints (images) of the āyān (immutable entities) and ḥaqīqas (inner realities) in the Divine Essence of Oneness (Dhāt-i Aḥadiyya). These āyān and ḥaqīqas are like the branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits of a tree existing in potential form within the seed. They manifest at the level (martaba) of wāḥidiyya (Divine Unity), and through knowledge (by the Pen), they become detailed (differentiated). (Kāshānī, 154; Jāmī, 87)
