Zecr (to prevent), is an agitation in the qalb (the heart). The qalb finds tranquility from zecr only by awakening from heedlessness, returning to a state of wakefulness; when awakened, it can distinguish right from wrong.
Zecr is a radiance (light) in the qalb that shows a person the faulty aspect of their intention. At the beginning of tawba (repentance), the state of zecr has three aspects: zecr through knowledge, zecr through intellect, and zecr through iman (faith).
A servant who repents continues to move in and out of the state of zecr. This state is a divine gift that leads the servant to tawba. Unless the states of tawba and zecr become established and turn into a maqām (spiritual station) in the servant, the servant cannot maintain the state of tawba and zecr due to the constant dominance of the desires of the nafs (the lower self).
The situation is no different in zuhd (asceticism). First, the servant tries to turn towards zuhd with a state that shows him the delight of abandoning preoccupation with the dunya (the world) and prevents him from inclining towards it. Unless he attains the help that will come from Allah the Generous, the effect of the state (of tawba and zecr) disappears due to the indication of the nafs's greed and desire for the dunya. Thus, the servant attains zuhd, gains stability in zuhd, and zuhd becomes his maqām.
Afterwards, the state of tawakkul (reliance upon God) begins to visit the servant's qalb and knocks at the door of the qalb until he attains this state.

Zefir: Zefir is to take a deep breath. It is the emergence of a burning breath from the qalb. Its emergence occurs as a rapid expulsion (or thrust). In addition to things like regret, it arises from matters connected to sorrow and is among the signs of lovers. (Ravza, 662)
