Zill-i evvel (the first shadow) is the Aql-i Awwal (First Intellect). For it is the first entity (ʿayn) that manifests through the light of Allah Most High and receives the forms of multiplicity (kasra, plurality), which are the manifestations (shuʾūnāt, acts) of essential oneness (dhātī waḥda, unity).
