Zulm-i maʿneviyye (spiritual injustice) is like the darkness of ignorance. This can be comprehended by the ʿālim (scholar), but not by the jāhil (ignorant person). This darkness, for the ʿālim, is a perception that does not subsist with the jāhil. When this darkness subsists with the jāhil, the ignorant person cannot comprehend that darkness. If he were able to do so, then he would not be ignorant but would become an ʿālim, and would fully comprehend that which exists as a form of injustice in the darkness of ignorance.
