Rebellion: Qur’an Verses

اِنَّ الدّ۪ينَ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ الْاِسْلَامُ۠ وَمَا اخْتَلَفَ الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ اِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَٓاءَهُمُ الْعِلْمُ بَغْيًا بَيْنَهُمْۜ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِاٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَر۪يعُ الْحِسَابِ

Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of Allah is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of Allah's messages – behold, Allah is swift in reckoning!

فَلَمَّا عَتَوْا عَنْ مَا نُهُوا عَنْهُ قُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُوا قِرَدَةً خَاسِـ۪ٔينَ

and then, when they disdainfully persisted in doing what they had been forbidden to do, We said unto them: "Be as apes despicable!"

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَٓا اَغْوَيْتَن۪ي لَاُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ وَلَاُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ اَجْمَع۪ينَۙ

[Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them-into grievous error –

يَٓا اَبَتِ لَا تَعْبُدِ الشَّيْطَانَۜ اِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ عَصِيًّا

"O my father! Do not worship Satan-for, verily, Satan is a rebel against the Most Gracious!

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ يُحَٓادُّونَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُ كُبِتُوا كَمَا كُبِتَ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ وَقَدْ اَنْزَلْنَٓا اٰيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍۜ وَلِلْكَافِر۪ينَ عَذَابٌ مُه۪ينٌۚ

Verily, those who contend against Allah and His Apostle shall be brought low even as those [evildoers] who lived before them were brought low after We had bestowed [on them] clear messages from on high. And [so,] for those who deny the truth there will be shameful suffering in store

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ يُحَٓادُّونَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُٓ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ فِي الْاَذَلّ۪ينَ

Verily, those who contend against Allah and His Apostle – it is they who [on Judgment Day] shall find themselves among the most abject.

لَا تَجِدُ قَوْمًا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ يُوَٓادُّونَ مَنْ حَٓادَّ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَوْ كَانُٓوا اٰبَٓاءَهُمْ اَوْ اَبْنَٓاءَهُمْ اَوْ اِخْوَانَهُمْ اَوْ عَش۪يرَتَهُمْۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ كَتَبَ ف۪ي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْا۪يمَانَ وَاَيَّدَهُمْ بِرُوحٍ مِنْهُۜ وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْر۪ي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَاۜ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ حِزْبُ اللّٰهِۜ اَلَٓا اِنَّ حِزْبَ اللّٰهِ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ

Thou canst not find people who [truly] believe in Allah and the Last Day and [at the same time] love anyone who contends against Allah and His Apostle – even though they be their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or [others of] their kindred. [As for the true believers,] it is they in whose hearts He has inscribed faith, and whom He has strength­ened with inspiration from Himself, and whom [in time] He will admit into gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide. Well-pleased is Allah with them, and well-pleased are they with Him. They are Allah’s partisans: oh, verily, it is they, the partisans of Allah, who shall attain to a happy state!

ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ شَٓاقُّوا اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُۚ وَمَنْ يُشَٓاقِّ اللّٰهَ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ شَد۪يدُ الْعِقَابِ

this, because they cut themselves off from Allah and His Apostle: and as for him who cuts himself off from Allah and His Apostle – verily, Allah is severe in retribution!
